<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the relation between the steering quantity of a steering wheel and that of dirigible car wheels even with excessive input during travel. SOLUTION: A variable gear ratio unit 14 varies along with a transmission ratio by a motor is interposed at an intermediate part of a steering transmission system connecting a steering wheel 10 and dirigible car wheels 24, and an ECU 30 is provided to control the transmission ratio according to the state of a vehicle. In a steering system of such constitution, a limiting means is provided to limit the operation of the variable gear ratio unit 14, and in case angle diviation between the input side and output side of the variable gear ratio unit 14 is not less than the specified value set on the basis of the abovementioned transmission ratio, the ECU 30 judges it abnormal and actuates the limiting means.</p> |
