The service platform(10) is located outside the stopping area of the lift cage's user and to carry out work in the lift shaft has a stand(12) in the cage. The service platform is attached to the roof(14) of the lift cage(2) by means of support elements(16,17). The stand in its not-in-use position closes off an opening(15) in the roof of the cage. The stand has a flap(13) and folding ladder(18) by which the stand is accessible when the flap is open.
