PURPOSE: A shift control method of an automatic transmission is provided to cause shift after stabilizing engine output torque by delaying up-shift although a throttle valve is suddenly varied and the throttle valves passes through an up-shift line. CONSTITUTION: A shift control method of an automatic transmission comprises steps of checking whether the speed range is varied according to the traveling state of a vehicle and a shift control signal is output(101); checking whether the former shift is down-shift(103); calculating the current throttle valve variation if the former shift is not down-shift(105); comparing the throttle valve variation calculated with a set value(107); checking whether the throttle valve has passed through an up-shift line if the throttle valve variation calculated is less than the set value(109); setting up the up-shift delay time according to each shift and vehicle speed and operating a delay timer(111,112); checking whether the time of the delay timer is more than the set up-shift delay time(113); checking whether the current opening degree of the throttle valve is less than a set value of the throttle valve if the time of the delay timer is less than the set up-shift delay time(115); increasing a cycle in the delay time if the time of the delay timer is less than the set up-shift delay time(119); and stopping up-shift delay and then outputting an up-shift command if the time of the delay timer is more than the set up-shift delay time or the current opening degree of the throttle valve is more than the set value of the throttle valve(121).
