PURPOSE: A bi-directional optical transceiver and a bi-directional optical transceiver module using the bi-directional optical transceiver are provided to reduce manufacturing cost by using a vertical cavity surface emitting laser. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor laser(310), which is a vertical cavity surface emitting laser, converts an electrical signal inputted from an outside into an output light signal. Photo diodes(330,320) are positioned away from the semiconductor laser(310) at a predetermined distance and receive an input light signal inputted from an outside. A wavelength division multiplexer(340) is positioned on paths of the input light signal and the output light signal, transmits the output light signal, and diffracts the input light signal by a predetermined angle to input them to the photo diodes(330,320). A stem plays a role of a substrate of an OEIC(Optical Electron Integrated Circuit) integrating the semiconductor laser(310) and the photo diodes(330,320). The stem and the wavelength division multiplexer(340) are mounted on a TO-can(360) mounts.
