PURPOSE: A method for checking received SMS data as a voice data through remote controlling is provided to convert received SMS data into voice data so that a remote terminal can check the converted voice data. CONSTITUTION: When a user of a remote terminal makes a phone call to a phone set(310), it enters to an automatic response mode with no one answering the call(312). A data processor of the phone set keeps monitoring a DTMF signal received from the remote terminal(314). A controller determines whether the phone set receives a remote control mode function key from the remote terminal(316). If the remote control mode function key is received, the remote terminal is requested to input a password for entering into a remote control mode(320). When the user inputs a password, the controller determines whether it is identical to a password stored in a memory(322). The data processor keeps monitoring DTMF signals transmitted from the remote terminal and transfers a result to the controller(324). The controller determines whether a password for entering into a 'received SMS data check mode' is received(326). If the password is received, the controller reads SMS data and transfers it to a TTS(Text To Speech) unit. The TTS unit converts the SMS data into voice data(328). The converted SMS data is transmitted to the remote terminal(330).
