PURPOSE: A BSC(Base Station Controller) having an internal frame transmission error checking function and a control method thereof are provided to easily embody a diagnostic function in a low-level ATM layer. CONSTITUTION: In an initial state(S1), a processor board judges whether the system is in a transmission mode(S1-1). In case that the system is in the transmission mode, the processor board judges whether the presently transmitted frame signal is to be transmitted at a timer mode(S2). If the timer mode is set, the processor board resets the timer and counts the number of frames(S3). Then the processor board judges whether the present time of the timer reaches a preset critical time(S4). If the present time of the timer reaches the preset critical time, the processor board sets time information for the present counted frame number to an unused, appointed field of an ATM frame and transmits the associated frame data to a destination(S5).
