PURPOSE: A semiconductor memory device for preventing an operation fail while an error command is inputted is provided, which does not perform an operation fail in a bank even when an error command is inputted to the inactive bank. CONSTITUTION: According to the semiconductor memory device comprising a number of banks(600,700,800,900) which operate by being activated selectively, bank control parts(610,710,810,910) are comprised in each bank to control the banks. And error command detection parts(620,720,820,920) are comprised in each bank to control the bank control part to ignore the error command, if the command inputted to the bank control part is detected to be an error command when a bank controlled by a selected bank control part is not activated.
