摘要 PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to enhance reflection efficiency of the outside light in a reflection region and transmission efficiency of the inside light generating from a backlight in a transmission region by applying a guest host mode, thereby enhancing a contrast ratio when displaying an image. CONSTITUTION: A gate bus line and a gate electrode are formed on a lower substrate(50a) made of a transparent insulation substrate. A gate insulation film(54) coated on the substrate(50a) is formed on the gate electrode. A switching device TFT(Thin Film Transistor) comprised of a channel layer(55), an ohmic contact layer(56) and source/drain electrodes(57a,57b) is arranged on a unit pixel region of the lower substrate(50a). A passivation film(58) is coated on the lower substrate(50a). A reflective plate(60) is formed on the passivation film(58) and an insulation film(59) is formed on the reflective plate(60). The first phase difference plate(50b) is formed on the insulation film(59) and an ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) pixel electrode(61) made of transparent metal is formed and arranged on the first phase difference plate(50b). The second phase difference plate(52a) and a polarized plate(53) are adhered on the other side surface of the lower substrate(50a). A liquid crystal layer(63) mixes liquid crystal particles(63a) having a constant refraction anisotropy characteristic with a different color dye(63b) for absorbing light having long-axis components in liquid crystal particles.
