PURPOSE: An apparatus for managing IMA configuration information in a DSLAM(xDSL Access Multiplexer) system and a method for controlling the same are provided to improve the efficiency of configuration information management of DSLAM systems by modifying IMA configuration information without the necessity of modifying the configuration information of two DSLAM systems all. CONSTITUTION: In an initial state(S1), a master DSLAM system judges whether the presently prepared IMA configuration information is modified information(S2). In case that the presently prepared IMA configuration information is modified information, the master DSLAM system modifies the presently created IMA configuration information, inserts it in an ICP cell, and transmits it to a slave DSLAM system(S4). The slave DSLAM system judges whether the IMA configuration information received through the ICP cell is modified information(S5). In case that the IMA configuration information received through the ICP cell is modified information, the slave DSLAM system updates the previous IMA configuration information into the IMA configuration information received through the ICP cell and processes transmitting data according to the modified IMA configuration information(S7).
