PURPOSE: A black matrix of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a forming method thereof are provided to mix oxidized metal particles with resin, form a black matrix pattern and remove the resin, thereby accomplishing low reflection of the black matrix against inside/outside light without forming another oxide film. CONSTITUTION: Each metal particle(30) of a granule shape is oxidized(a). Plural oxide film metal particles(34) covered with the oxide film(32) are mixed with resin(36) having strong volatility and the mixed resin(38) is coated at a color filter substrate(5)(b). The resin included with the oxide film metal particle(34), that is, the mixed resin(38) coated on the color filter substrate(5) entirely is formed with a constant pattern(c). By heating the patterned resin region(40), the resin(36) is removed(d). Plural oxide film metal particles(34) covered with the oxide film(30) are remaining at the patterned resin region(40) and this is a black matrix(6') formed on the color filter substrate(5)(e). Thereafter, a sub color filter(8), an overcoat layer(21) and a transparent electrode(18) are sequentially formed(f).
