PURPOSE: A method for setting functions of a universal remote controller is provided to change stored addresses of control frequency data for each product that is sequentially stored in each address of a memory by inputting an optional key, so that the control frequency data matched with controlled apparatuses can be located in the very front of a memory address. CONSTITUTION: In a standby mode(S101), a microprocessor scans an inputting of a key signal(S102), and decides whether an optional key signal is inputted(S103). If so, the microprocessor decides whether a setup key for moving an address of a memory where control frequency data is stored is inputted(S104). If so, the microprocessor moves control frequency data stored in the very last address of the memory to the very front address, and stores the moved control frequency data(S108), then deletes previous control frequency data stored in the very front address(S109). If a setup mode is completed, the microprocessor deletes control frequency data about a product of a manufacturer stored in the very last address, presses a functional key, and quickly responds to an inputting of other functional key(S110).
