PURPOSE: A method for confirming a state of a mobile communication terminal is provided to previously confirm a state of a mobile communication terminal, and to display the confirmed state, so that a user can attempt a call only when the terminal is in call-capable state, thereby minimizing time and resource consumption. CONSTITUTION: When a terminal is powered on, the terminal attaches a recent call list or a telephone number registered in a telephone directory through a registration message, and transmits the registration message(S101). A base station receiving the registration message detects a current state of the terminal through an HLR by receiving telephone number information, and transmits the detected state(S102,S103). The base station periodically transmits messages that are communicated in a standby state of the terminal(S104). The terminal receives state information, updates the state information, and stores/displays the state information(S105).
