PURPOSE: A variable muffler for a vehicle is provided to minimize exhaust noise within the entire range from low frequency to high frequency by regulating the opening degree of the connection tube through the variable exhaust unit according to exhaust pressure from the combustion chamber of the engine, and to improve exhaust performance by controlling exhaust pressure optimally. CONSTITUTION: A variable muffler for a vehicle regulates exhaust pressure by varying the flow passage of exhaust gas from a combustion chamber of an engine, and comprises a housing(9) connected to front and rear exhaust pipes(5,7) and composed of a hollow part divided into a multistage exhaust chamber(13) by two partition walls(11); a connection tube(3) installed in the housing by the partition wall and connected to the multistage exhaust chamber; and a variable exhaust unit installed in the end of the connection tube and operated by regulating the opening degree variably according to exhaust pressure.
