DEMODULATOR FOR CORRECTING GAIN AND PHASE IMBALANCES BETWEEN I/Q CHANNELS AND DEMODULATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A demodulator for correcting gain and phase imbalances between I/Q channels and a demodulating method thereof are provided to prevent deterioration in demodulation function by detecting and correcting the imbalance between the I/Q channels. CONSTITUTION: An A/D converter(102) is used for converting a received signal to a digital signal. A recovery unit(117) is used for outputting a carrier recovery signal. A decision unit receives the carrier recovery signal and outputs a symbol decision signal. A carrier frequency offset corrector is used for correcting a carrier frequency offset. A gain imbalance detector(109) is used for detecting a gain imbalance between I/Q channels. A gain imbalance corrector(103) is used for correcting the gain imbalance between the I/Q channels. A phase imbalance detector(108) is used for detecting a phase imbalance between the I/Q channels. A phase imbalance corrector(104) is used for correcting the phase imbalance between the I/Q channels.
