PURPOSE: A method for controlling an external device of an image display system is provided to automatically provide a command for controlling a frequently used external device. CONSTITUTION: It is checked whether an input mode change request is a request for changing the input mode into an external input mode(300). When the request is the request for changing the input mode into the external input mode, it is checked whether an external device corresponding to the external input mode is temporarily interrupted(308). When the external device is temporarily interrupted, the external device is instructed to be played(312). When the input mode change request is not the request for changing the input mode into the external input mode or the external device has been instructed to be played, it is checked whether the input mode before the input mode is changed is the external input mode(314). When the input mode is the external input mode, an external device corresponding to the external input mode is instructed to be temporarily stopped(316). |
