PURPOSE: A method and a device for mounting a stretchable sleeve is provided to display information to be displayed or not displayed on a lid on a whole lateral side of a container. CONSTITUTION: In a method for mounting a stretchable sleeve(M) to a multi-sided or a column box-shaped container with an opening unit surrounded by the edge partially projected outward, the sleeve is cut at a stretchable external material and extended slightly larger than a part of the box mounted with the sleeve. The sleeve is moved and installed from an upper bottom side(Fo) of the box toward the edge. A stretchable sleeve mounting device is composed of an exterior material supplying device(2), a sleeve cutting mechanism(5), a transfer drum(7) having a transfer element(8), and a mounting turret(9) having a mounting unit(10) comprising two mounting elements(11) composed of an extension tool and a clamping block. In a step for interlocking with the mounting element in a mounting area(14), a container supplying device(15) arranges a container(R) at a position that the bottom side turns over toward the mounting element.
