PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety elevator manufacturable with reduced costs by combination of a support column having a spiral projecting bar on an inner face, a rotary body, an auxiliary support column, a connection member, and a mounting member instead of a wire rope to solve problems of a conventional elevator wherein a car drops if the wire rope is cut due to an accident because the wire rope is used as an elevating driving member and safety measures must be carried out by spending very large costs on the assumption that great injury including an accident resulting in injury or death occurs. SOLUTION: This elevator is constituted in such a way that both ends are fixed to predetermined positions of a building, it has spiral projecting bars 10 on the inner face, a plurality of support columns 1 erected in parallel and vertically, a cutout part 11 provided in the axial direction opposing to the plurality of support columns 1, and spiral screw channels 12 meshing with the spiral projecting bars 10 in the plurality of support columns 1, respectively, are provided at the outer periphery, and it is provided with a plurality of rotary bodies 13 elevating and lowering in the same direction while rotating in the support columns 1.
