SMELL SENSOR AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate a plurality of molecules of smell substances at a high level. SOLUTION: This smell sensor has a component gradient structure wherein the concentrations of smell sensitive substances are continuously or stepwisely varied along an in-plane direction of a substrate in a compound film comprising the two kinds or more of smell sensitive substances on the substrate having a plurality of electrodes with a pair of anode and cathode. Amphipathic organometal complexes and layer inorganic compounds are suitable as the smell sensitive substances. A frequency change of an electric characteristic provided from the individual electrode of the smell sensor is read to display the smell substances by a two-dimensional pattern.
