PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving bolster device which minimizes practical decrease in open height caused by adoption of the moving bolster device, improves positioning accuracy of a lower die and retains excellent rigidity against pressure, for the moving bolster device of a press machine. SOLUTION: The moving bolster device is equipped with two pairs of travel wheels R1 at four corners of a bolster plate 11 as well as a driving mechanism which used to be attached to the carrier, to give self-moving capability to the bolster plate. Thus the bolster plate becomes self-moving as a single unit so that the total height D1 of the moving bolster device 10 is kept similar to the thickness of the bolster plate and the carrier becomes of no use.
