PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for chromaticity treatment which can efficiently decompose and remove a chromaticity component in water at a low cost without producing sludge and a chromaticity processing method using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst for chromaticity treatment comprises a calcium phosphate compound carrying a metal such as nickel or cobalt. In the chromaticity processing method, water containing the chromaticity component is contacted with the catalyst in the presence of an oxidizing agent. Since the calcium phosphate compound has a high capacity for adsorbing the chromaticity component, the chromaticity component which is adsorbed on the surface of the catalyst and highly concentrated is efficiently decomposed by the catalytic action of the metal by the oxidizing agent.
