PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for discriminating disks, capable of determining that more than one disk are inserted even when the disks are inserted with small shifting compared with the conventional case. SOLUTION: The device 120 for determining disks is provided with a contact detection section 160 for detecting the presence of a disk passing through the width-direction end of an insertion hole formed by a substrate 130 and a substrate 140 based on the moving amounts of shaft parts 152a and 153a, a photodetection section 171 having a light emission element arranged in a position opposite the light transmissive area 211b of a circular disk 211 whose presence is detected by the contact detection section 160, and designed to detect the presence of the disk by the blocking of a light emitted from the light emission element in the light shielding area of the disk, and a processing section for determining the insertion of plural disks into the insertion hole when the contact detection section 160 and the photodetection section 171 simultaneously detect the presence of the disk.
