PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce transfer blurring and maintain stability in web feeding by setting the tension of a web at an appropriate value regardless of the width or the ream weight of the web, and by setting the rate of change in the tension of the web given after the start of web feeding at an appropriate value regardless of the width or the ream weight of the web. SOLUTION: A feeding mechanism for feeding the web to a transfer part, and a tension generating mechanism for giving tension to the web being fed to the feeding mechanism are provided. The tension generating mechanism comprises a tension generating roller changing the tension given to the web according to the rotating position, a sensor detecting the rotating position, and a driving means for controlling the rotating position of the tension generating roller according to the detection signal. The rotating position of the tension generating roller at the start of web feeding, or the rotating speed of the tension generating roller after the start of web feeding is classified and controlled according to the width or the ream weight of the web used.
