PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for surface coating work superior in adhesive strength of cemented carbide and a cermet alloy being a base material, and having a coating layer having high hardness and small contact resistance with a machinable material on a surface for realizing fine processing by a microscopic drill for main use. SOLUTION: This tool is characterized in that an amorphous carbon film is formed in at least a part of a surface of the cemented carbide and the cermet alloy being the base material of the tool for surface coating work: a crystal structure of a bonding phase of the base material alloy does not include a hexagonal fine lattice hcp; the amorphous carbon film is formed by a physical deposition method; and the layer thickness is 0.01 to 3.0μm.
