<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming images in which a gap is reduced in order to maintain enough transfer electric field by using a transfer roll having a surface elastic layer and applying transfer pressure and which minimizes the occurrence of transfer dust even when using polymerized toner, and to provide a device therefor. <P>SOLUTION: In the method (device) for forming images, an electrostatic latent image is formed on an image carrier 1 and developed with toner and the toner image on the image carrier is electrostatically transferred to a transfer body by using a transfer roller 52. A pressure of 1 to 10 N/cm is applied between the transfer roller and the image carrier by a spring 57b or the like. Two elastic layers different in hardness are provided between the image carrier and the transfer roller, wherein the surface layer 52a is softer and an internal layer 52b is harder. The transfer bias current between the image carrier and the transfer roller is 0.05 to 0.2 μA/cm, and polymerized toner consisting of modified polyester is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
