<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a roll for continuous hot dip metal plating in which the barrel part is formed by silicon nitride based ceramics, and to provide the roll for continuous hot dip metal plating in which the thermal impact resistance of silicon nitride based ceramics is improved, and destroy caused by thermal impact on use is prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The roll for continuous hot dip metal plating is composed in such a manner that shafts parts are joined to both the end parts of a hollow barrel. At least the roll barrel part consists of a sintered compact essentially consisting of silicon nitride. In the sintered compact, a coefficient R expressed by R=σc(1-ν)/Eα (where, σc is fracture strength; ν is a Poisson's ratio; E is a Young's modulus; and α is a thermal expansion coefficient) is ≥600. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
