OPTICAL ELEMENT, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element having a light emitting means which makes a display image hard to get disordered by dispersing and distributing fine recessed parts having superior slope surface precision with good position precision and efficiently converting the optical path of lateral incident light to a longitudinal direction.

SOLUTION: Included are an optical element (10) having the light emitting means composed of a recessed part (A) with a trapezoidal cross section on one surface of a transparent base material, a liquid crystal display having the optical element arranged on at least one side of a liquid crystal cell of a liquid crystal display panel, a method for manufacturing the optical element in which the light emitting means is formed by repeating operations for forming the recessed part with the trapezoidal cross section penetrating an irradiated film by laser etching, and a method for manufacturing the optical element in which a metallic mold to which the shape of the surface where the light emitting means of the optical element is formed is transferred is obtained to transfer the shape to a transparent base material.
