PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle mass estimating system which estimates the mass of a vehicle with high precision using an existing sensor. SOLUTION: A CPU estimates the longitudinal acceleration dv of the vehicle based on the rotational speed (no) of the output shaft of the vehicle. The CPU removes the low frequency component of the estimated acceleration dv, and obtains filtered acceleration hdv. The CPU integrates this acceleration hdv and obtains acceleration area, and estimates the mass of the vehicle. The CPU obtains a throttle-on time vehicle speed based on the rotational speed (no) of the output shaft of the vehicle, and corrects the obtained acceleration area on the basis of this vehicle speed.
