PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake-air amount controller of an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing damage of a catalyst caused by decrease of injection pressure of fuel. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 2 comprises a throttle valve 6 actuated by an actuator 12, and a fuel pressure sensor 22 for detecting fuel injection pressure. An electronic control device 10 sets, as a target suction air amount, the smaller one of a first suction air amount calculated based on a load request of a driver and a second suction air amount where the air-fuel ratio is set at the target air-fuel ratio with respect to the maximum injection amount of the fuel allowed by the injection amount of the fuel at that time. The actuator 12 is controlled so as to adjust an opening of the throttle valve 6 to the opening providing the set target suction air amount. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
