<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device using a plurality of light emitting diodes whose emitted light color is different, made excellent in white balance and having the high utilization efficiency of light by considering the light emission efficiency inherent to the light emitting element, and to provide a projection type display device. <P>SOLUTION: After beams from light source arrays 101 and 102 are unified in terms of polarized light by polarized light changing means 103 and 104, they are synthesized by a polarizing beam splitter 105 so as to illuminate a two-dimensional optical modulator as illuminating beams. A DMD is used as the two-dimensional optical modulator. The light emitting diodes set at an optional constitution ratio are arranged in the arrays 101 and 102 so that the white balance may be optimum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
