PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cogeneration system which can be used in a high energy efficiency. SOLUTION: The cogeneration system 1 includes a generator having a prime mover as a drive source, a control means, and an electric energy monitoring means. The power used in a predetermined area is supplied by the combined use of the generated power of the cogeneration system 1 and a commercial power. The control means detects the electric energy used in the predetermined area via the electric energy monitoring means, stores the electric energy as electric energy history information, predicts the electric energy used in the predetermined area based on the stored electric energy history information, obtains a time zone for driving the prime mover based on the predicted electric energy used in the predetermined area, and previously informs the obtained time zone.
