PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the inconvenience that a cordless handset must be registered previously, and to reduce a power consumption in the waiting state. SOLUTION: This digital cordless telephone uses a public network and has a recipient prepare for an incoming call by the following procedure: a sender calls the recipient by a message having a group code between cordless handsets and waiting mode change request information, and the recipient changes the waiting mode in response to the message.
