PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture reproducer which makes OSD pictures easy to see. SOLUTION: The picture reproducer having a function of displaying OSD pictures on reproduced pictures is provided with a setting means for setting the distance from a display screen to a viewer and a control means for controlling the transparency of a background part in OSD pictures in accordance with the distance from the display screen to the viewer, which is set by the setting means.
