PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold-cathode discharge tube in which the total length of a glass bulb can be shortened without changing the spacing between a pair of electrodes. SOLUTION: In the cold-cathode discharge tube, bead glass 10 is fused at both ends of the glass bulb 1 in a prescribed length and the inner face 11 is made in a dent curvature face. Then, a first metal body 6 sealed on the bead glass 10 protrudes from the inner face 11 of the bead glass 10 made in dent curvature face with the prescribed length a and an electrode 4 is welded on the inner end. Since the inner face 11 of the bead glass 10 is made a dent curvature face, the length d of the first metal body 6 which protrudes from the inner face 11 of the glass bead 10 can be shortened by the length c of dent, and the total length L of the glass bulb 1 is made shorter than that of the prior art by two times of the dent length c.
