PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a writing start position by correcting an output error of a position sensor due to a change with time in an ink-jet printer. SOLUTION: The movement of a carriage is limited by raising a part of an enclosure. A distance between the carriage and a home position is measured, whereby a change of a sensor output system is materialized. The change amount is made to be a correction amount.
