PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave oven, preventing heat generation and spark due to high frequency between a mover and a cookware and between the mover and the wall face of a cooking chamber by stopping the operation of a magnetron during a period when the mover is operated to move the cookware in the cooking chamber from an initial position to a cooking position, and its control method. SOLUTION: In the case that a moving part for moving a cooking part provided in the cooking chamber from the initial position to the cooking position and the magnetron are operated, the moving part is operated to move the cooling part to the cooking position and then the magnetron is operated.
