PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP key telephone system for connection from the outside of a LAN in which a key telephone system terminal accesses a key telephone system main apparatus via an IP network from the outside of the LAN to be able to utilize information stored in a data base of the main apparatus. SOLUTION: The key telephone system main apparatus 10 utilizes an in-company LAN as extensions to house a plurality of the key telephone system terminal 40, 50 for connecting with external lines. The key telephone system main apparatus 10 includes a function for serving as an IP server for a KTS terminal, and then stores the data base of character/picture information or the like in a memory unit to manage them. The key telephone system terminal 20 accesses an IP address of the key telephone system main apparatus 10 via the IP network from the outside of the LAN to log into the IP address by using a first ID and a pass word that have been determined in advance. Then, the key telephone system main apparatus 10 certificates the first ID and the pass word to register them as an extension terminal as an IP terminal, and performs voice communication by using a VolP.
