PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which recognizes a usable peripheral without troublesome operation by automatically creating or deleting a virtual communications port according to present peripherals. SOLUTION: When a hand-held personal computer 1 on standby identifies presence of a new Bluetooth(R) supporting device for wireless communication in a PAN area, it establishes a network connection, creates the virtual communications ports of the Bluetooth for transmitting and receiving data, and list them in a port selecting part 26, provided that a Bluetooth profile of the device comprises a printable profile, and that a device driver for controlling the device is incorporated in the personal computer 1. If there is a virtual port created in the past but not needed now, the personal computer deletes it and removes it from the list of the port selecting part 26. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
