PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant magnification variable focus optical system capable of consecutively varying a focus at constant magnification. SOLUTION: A fixed attaching member 11 and a movable attaching member 12 are provided to be opposed to each other, and a 1st prism 7 is attached to the member 11 and a 2nd prism 8 is attached to the member 12. The inclined surface 7a of the prism 7 and the inclined surface 8a of the prism 8 are opposed through a minute space 9. By moving the prism 8 attached to the member 12 in parallel with the prism 7 attached to the member 11 along the surface 7a of the prism 7 while keeping the space 9, and consecutively changing the total thickness of the thickness t1 of the prism 7 and the thickness t2 of the prism 8, the focus is consecutively varied at the constant magnification.
