PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved automatic document feeder eliminating a burden of maintenance. SOLUTION: The automatic document feeder (152) constituted to be used in combination with an imaging device (100) includes a feed guide (164) supported in spaced overlapping relation to a scanning window (182) of the imaging device (100) and first and second document guides (102, 104) which are spaced each other, are supported in close relation to the scanning window (182), and are constituted to guide a sheet medium (158) to a part between the feed guide (164) and the scanning window (182). The automatic document feeder is characterized in that the sheet medium (158) is the only element existing between the scanning window (182) and the feed guide (164) when used.
