PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a case which can be handled by an easy operation when changing over from a sales case state where a recording medium is engaged with the case to a rental case state where the medium is housed in an inner case and the inner case sticks out from a case top face side to a degree that it can be picked out, and has height positions corresponding to a plurality of kinds of inner cases. SOLUTION: The case is structured to be the recording medium case for sale when a top face member is engaged with a lid on a top face and a recording medium engaging member is engaged with a base, and to have a structure having a space capable of receiving the inner case inside the case when the top face member moves to and loosely fits with the vicinity of the bottom of the lid by a groove provided on the lid and the recording medium engaging member is opened from the base and engaged with the top face member to cause the base and the lid to be closed. By locating a plurality of kinds of top face members, the recording medium case for rental having height positions corresponding to a plurality of kinds of inner cases is provided.
