PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silent washing machine with a drying function which efficiently dries clothes even without using a hot air circulation means such as a fan, and also has a sterilizing function. SOLUTION: A washing tub 5 is rotatably disposed in a water tub 6. A halogen heater 1 as a heat source for heating the clothes 16 in the washing tub 5 to evaporate moisture therefrom, is positioned above an opening portion 5a of the washing tub 5. The inner wall surface of the washing tub 5 is subjected to a friction reducing treatment 9, and has an extremely low friction coefficient, a black color system with a high visible light absorption, and a high infrared emission rate. The side wall of the water tub 6 is integrally molded with a cooling water passage 7 spirally and circumferentially disposed for condensing evaporated moisture from the clothes 16 by heating.
