PURPOSE: A device and a method for protecting the contents to apply a multi-contents protecting tool, and an applied protecting tool and method thereof are provided to apply various contents protecting tools to a user terminal and offer the protecting tool applied to the contents protecting tool to apply the multi-contents protecting tool. CONSTITUTION: A license processor(33) extracts license information by reading a license file, and extracts/updates the user right information and the protecting tool information applied to the contents from the license information by a playback control signal. A protecting tool processor(35) transmits the protecting tool information and the license information to a protecting tool applier(31) by calling the protecting tool and loading the license information from the license processing tool. The protecting tool applier operates the protecting tool described in the protecting tool information by the playback control signal. A playback controller(32) generates the playback control signal based on the user right information and a protecting tool processing result.
