<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide circuit that can reduce radiation loss in the optical waveguide. <P>SOLUTION: The optical waveguide 3 has a groove 4 crossing the optical guide 3 and the radiation loss is generated in this groove 4, when the light propagates this optical waveguide 3. The light, propagating through the loss factors such as the optical waveguide gaps 6 proceeds near the waveguide 3, is gradually radiated. Thus, immediately after passing the waveguide 3, the optical wave passing the waveguide 3 mixes the optical waves staying near the waveguide 3 before radiating, and forms a state as though the beam diameter of the optical wave passing through the waveguide 3 is increased in appearance. In this way, by providing a waveguide gap in front of the groove 4, the beam diameter of the optical wave which enters the groove 4 can be increased in appearance and excessive loss can be reduced, when the optical wave propagates in the waveguide 3 provided with a loss factor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
