PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production by which a geometrical isomer produced as a minor component during production of an acrylonitrile compound is isomerized. SOLUTION: The acrylonitrile compound composed of an isomeric mixture containing a large amount of one of isomers is treated in the presence of a pyridine catalyst in an organic solvent. 2'-Trifluoromethyl-2-[4-(2, 6-difluorophenyl)thiazol-2-yl]-3-(2, 2-dimethylpentanoyloxy)cinnamonitrile (a simple compound of only a useful isomer S) useful as an active ingredient of a pest controlling agent is especially used as the acrylonitrile compound.
