PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow underground structure which is buried under a railway line in a direction crossing the railway line, so as to form an underground passage, which enables moisture such as rainwater, permeating into soil under the railway line, to be discharged outward from an upper floor slab of the hollow underground structure, so as to prevent the occurrence of a mud-pumping state, and which prevents the occurrence of a phenomenon wherein the railway line is lifted by freezing and frost heaving in winter. SOLUTION: A top surface of the upper floor slab 1a of the hollow underground structure is formed as inclined planes 8 and 8 which are inclined downward from a central part in a width direction to both side ends; a frame-like peripheral wall part 9 is protrusively provided at four-side edges of the floor slab 1a; a heat insulating layer 5 and a permeable layer 10 are stacked on the upper floor slab which is enclosed with the wall part 9; the layer 5 prevents cold air in the passage of the hollow underground structure from being transferred to sediment above the floor slab 1a; and the moisture contained in the sediment is made to permeate into the permeable layer 10, and discharged outward from drainage holes 11 which are provided in both side wall parts of the wall part 9 along inclined surfaces on both the sides of the layer 5 on the inclined planes 8 and 8.
