PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing inorganic fibers uniform in fiber length and scarcely forming shots (flaked films and/or particulate matters). SOLUTION: The method for producing the inorganic fibers comprises (1) the step of preparing a sol solution consisting mainly of an inorganic component, (2) the step of extruding the sol solution via a nozzle, subjecting the extruded sol solution to an electric field to form inorganic gel-like fibers, (3) the step of subjecting the inorganic gel-like fibers to a gas prior to accumulating the inorganic gel-like fibers, (4) the step of accumulating the resultant inorganic gel-like fibers on a trapping member, and (5) the step of drying the thus trapped inorganic gel-like fibers to form dry inorganic gel-like fibers as the final inorganic fibers, and preferably furthermore, the step of sintering the (dry) inorganic gel-like fibers to form sintered inorganic fibers as the final inorganic fibers.
