PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization method and a sterilization apparatus each in an apparatus for inoculating liquid spawn, each enabling simplification of sterilization or maintenance operation while carrying out stable inoculating operation using liquid spawn. SOLUTION: The method for sterilization in an apparatus for inoculating liquid spawn comprises a spawn storage container 1 storing liquid spawn B, a spawn supply pipe line 3 connected to a transferring outlet provided at the spawn storage container 1 and supplying the liquid spawn B from the inside of the spawn storage container 1 to the outside thereof, and a liquid spawn jetting mechanism 20 provided at an inoculator body 2 jetting the liquid spawn B supplied through the spawn supply pipe line 3 to a culture medium C in a cultivation container 15 to inoculate the spawn. In the apparatus for inoculating liquid spawn, high temperature steam S is sent from a transferring outlet of the spawn storage container 1 to a liquid spawn jetting mechanism of the apparatus for inoculating liquid spawn in the course of a transferring path for the liquid spawn B via the spawn supply pipe line 3.
