PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to increase the aperture ratio since the region of light leakage is relatively reduced by not generating the horizontal electrical field between the first and the second pixel electrodes. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel(38) and a pair of liquid crystal panel driving drivers(34,36). The liquid crystal panel(38) is provided with a plurality of thin film transistors(TFTs)(42) formed at the cross-sectional regions at which a plurality of data lines is crossing with a plurality of gate lines. And, the pair of liquid crystal panel driving drivers(34,36) supply a pair of pixel voltage signals having the same polarity to at least two adjacent liquid crystal cells.
