PURPOSE: A device and a method for preventing malfunction in an extended connector of a terminal are provided to prevent the malfunction of the terminal by preventing an excess current even if a metallic material or an abnormal expansion pack is inserted into an expansion pack connector, and checking a normal operation of the expansion pack inserted through an expansion pack interface. CONSTITUTION: The expansion pack connector(40) is equipped with a power pin, a detection pin, and various interface pins for operating the expansion pack(10). A current limit switch(50) outputs/cuts off the power to the power pin of the expansion pack connector depending on an expansion power control signal, and cuts off the power if the excess current is flown. An expansion pack controller(60) outputs the expansion power control signal as high or lower by judging a power level of the detection pin of the expansion pack connector, and examines the normal operation of the expansion pack through the expansion pack interface.
