<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water storage type water heater capable of preventing the shortage of hot water or capable of delaying the shortage of hot water. <P>SOLUTION: This hot water storage type water heater comprises a hot water tank 7 for storing hot water, a heating part boiling the hot water in the hot water storage tank 7, and a mixing valve 11 supplying hot water at a set temperature by mixing the hot water with low temperature water. The water heater also comprises a residual hot water amount detection means 41 detecting residual hot water amount in the hot water storage tank 7 and a hot water supply temperature limiting means 42 limiting the maximum hot water temperature according to the residual hot water amount. Since the use amount of the hot water in the hot water storage tank 7 can be minimized to prevent the shortage of hot water, it can be noticed to a user that the shortage of the hot water is expected shortly without changing the hot water amount and deteriorating the easiness of use due to a variation in hot water supply temperature.
